Ghanaian Police officer allegedly commits suicide

 
A Ghanaian police officer identified as Ebenezer Kofi Okyere, who works with the Central Police Station in Kumasi in the Ashanti region in Ghana, committed suicide at his home today July 12th. According to Ghanaian OAP, Issac Bediako Justice who shared the story online, the neighbors of the deceased officer woke up to the sound of a gunshot that emanated from his room.

The police officer is said to have received a call in the early hours of today and was reportedly arguing over the paternity of a child. He was heard by his girlfriend saying to the other person at the other end of the phone
“If you say I’m the father of the baby then i will kill myself for you to find the father of the baby”.
After the phone call, the officer reportedly asked his girlfriend to leave his room before shooting himself in the throat.

 
His terrified neighbors rushed to his room and found him slumped in his chair with a gunshot wound to his neck. His remains was then conveyed the body to the mortuary.

The deceased officer was with the SWAT division of the Central Police Command and does escort duties as well, hence allowed to carry a weapon always
