According to E! News, the movie credits will now feature her full name at the beginning and the end of the epic musical fantasy film.
The "Thank U, Next" star's name combines her mother Joan Grande's surname and her father Ed Butera's name. This name change follows the mending of her relationship with her estranged father, whom she lost touch with in 2013.
Grande's graphic designer father separated from her mother when Ariana was eight years old. She referenced their strained relationship in her 2018 song "Thank U, Next," singing, "One day I’ll Walk down the aisle/ holding hands with my mama/ I’ll be thanking my dad 'cause she grew from the drama."
Describing their falling out as "one of the hardest things" she had to deal with, Ariana told Seventeen magazine in 2014, "It’s private… It took me so long to be okay with it. So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn’t like that about myself. I had to accept that it’s okay not to get along with somebody and still love them."
She gave fans a brief glimpse into their relationship when things were improving in 2017, sharing a throwback photo of her dad on social media with the caption, "I love you."
