Trump Issues Ultimatum to Hamas: Release Hostages or Face 'All Hell Breaking Out

President Donald Trump has warned Hamas that if all Israeli hostages are not released from Gaza by noon on Saturday, "all hell is going to break out." Trump issued this stern warning while signing executive orders at the White House on Monday, February 10, 2025.

Trump emphasized that it would be "Israel's decision" whether to cancel the ceasefire agreement if the hostages were not released by his deadline. He stated, "You'll find out, and they'll find out too. Hamas will find out what I mean." The president's comments have raised concerns about the fragile ceasefire and the potential for renewed hostilities in the region.

Hamas had previously announced a delay in the next hostage release, accusing Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement by targeting Palestinians in Gaza with airstrikes and failing to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz condemned the delay as a "complete violation" of the ceasefire agreement and instructed the Israeli military to be on the highest level of alert.

The current ceasefire agreement, brokered by the US, Qatar, and Egypt, calls for the release of dozens of hostages captured during the October 7, 2023, terrorist attack in exchange for roughly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. However, Trump's ultimatum threatens to upend this agreement, demanding that all remaining hostages be returned by noon on Saturday.

The international community has expressed concern over the potential consequences of Trump's warning. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres urged Hamas to proceed with the planned hostage releases and called for both sides to fully abide by their commitments in the ceasefire agreement.
