The father of an Olympic gold medal judo star has reportedly been arrested in Paris after an alleged s3xual ass@ult on a volunteer at the Games.

 

Croatia's Barbara Matic won gold in the women's 70kg judo category on Wednesday and was overjoyed after she triumphed over Germany's Olympic debutant Miriam Butkereit.

 

Her stunning victory was Croatia's first gold medal at the Paris Olympics but was later overshadowed after her father was arrested for sexual assault on a volunteer at the Games.

 

Police investigating the alleged sexual assault took the dad into custody on Thursday where he is being questioned over the events relating to the complainant's claim, as reported by BFM TV.

It is alleged that the father of the gold medal Olympian forcibly kissed the volunteer following Matic's quarter-final win that put her within touching distance of a place on the podium.

 

The volunteer, aged 24, was working on the site of the Arena Champs-de-Mars and tried to reject the advancement from the judo star's dad.

 

They then decided to report the incident to police where it was indicated that 'the father of a champion imposed a kiss on her mouth after an Olympic event,' according to a BFM source

 

French media also claims the father the focus of the investigation remained in police custody throughout Thursday.
