Woman falls off a rooftop deck balcony while "laughing very hard" and dies

A 50-year-old Pennsylvania teacher, on holiday with her daughter, died from injuries she sustained when she accidentally fell off a rooftop balcony while laughing so hard.
Sharon Regoli Ciferno, 50, a sixth-grade social studies teacher in the Burrell School District in western Pennsylvania, was on holiday with her daughter and two other people in California. They then decided to cross the southern border and spend a few days in Mexico. On August 4, while in Mexico, sitting on a rooftop deck at a friend's house, Sharon accidentally fell and sustained injuries to her body and brain.

Her brother, David Regoli, said both the Mexican and American emergency services worked to quickly transport his sister back across the border. She was hospitalized at the UCSD Medical Center in San Diego, where doctors placed her on a respirator. But eventually, they had to make the tough decision to let her go. She died on Monday.
Explaining how his sister fell, David Regoli said: "The deck had a ledge that acted as a bench for people to sit on that went around the deck. Unfortunately, there was no back on the deck. Remember, the building code standards in Mexico are not the same in the states. She was sitting on the bench when she started laughing very hard and when she put her head back she lost her balance and fell back. She suffered multiple injuries to her body and brain.
"Her injuries proved to be more than she could handle and the family made the most difficult decision that we could make and we let her go," said Regoli, who insists that alcohol played no part in her death
